After more than 30 years supplying the highest possible quality homes, Scandia-Hus have gained a reputation as the ‘Rolls Royce’ of the timber-frame world, and there is no doubt that the quality of the company’s materials and service is second to none.

However, not all self-builders are looking for such a complete material supply or specification. Therefore, in order to help prospective self-builders to acquire a high quality timber frame, but with the choice of a less complete ‘package’, the Self-Build House Company was formed.

SBHC was established in 1998, drawing on the knowledge and experience of Scandia-Hus to assist those who are true self-builders; those who wish to take personal responsibility for the project management and construction of their new home from the groundwork up.

All Self-Build House Company frames are manufactured at the Scandia-Hus Group factory, which can produce the timber chassis that forms the major single element of each house, to any specification. To be able to make our homes ‘in-house’ means that we have complete command over the whole production process, right from individual customer design to choice of material specification and technical detailing, as well as over the actual manufacture of each and every SBHC building set.

This gives us absolute control over the quality of the finished product, and the close inter-company links between the company’s sales and production departments is an added benefit to our customers.

The Self-Build House Company offers complete flexibility of design and specification, enabling our customers to build a completely bespoke home, catering for their individual requirements and preferences.
